Notifications for Your Holders
When a holder subscribes to your token, they choose how to hear from you: email, in-app, and push — a notification that arrives on their phone or computer like any app's. Push is the one they see first. This page explains what a holder has to allow for it, and what we do so that more of them do.
What a holder has to allow
Push needs permission from the holder's browser, and browsers only ask once per website. If someone taps Block, the page can never ask again — they would have to find their browser's site settings and change it themselves.
So we never ask the moment someone lands. The browser's question only appears after the holder has said they want your updates:
- When they subscribe and pick Push, the browser asks as they confirm.
- Right after they sign in on your page, we offer Get updates about $YOURTOKEN? first. Only if they tap Turn on do they go on to subscribe, where the browser asks.
If a holder says no to push, their subscription still works through the other channels they chose.
iPhone holders install your page first
On an iPhone or iPad, Safari cannot show notifications from a website — only from a website that has been added to the home screen. So:
- An iPhone holder who picks Push is shown how to add your page to their home screen (Share → Add to Home Screen).
- They open your token from their home screen — it opens as your app.
- Your app offers updates once on that first launch, and they subscribe there with Push on.
An installed iPhone app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari, so holders connect their wallet again inside it. That is Apple's rule, not a setting.
Your token's page is its own website
Your token's page (yourtoken.crown.info) is a different website from chaindaddy.io, and browser permission belongs to each website separately. A holder who allowed Chain Daddy notifications is asked again on your page. That is intended: the question comes in your token's name, and notifications from your page arrive as your token — with your icon, and opening your page when tapped.
Notifications that arrive through your token's app are about your token only.
If a holder says notifications are not arriving
- They blocked notifications for the page. They need to allow them in their browser's settings for
yourtoken.crown.info, then subscribe again. - iPhone, not installed. Push only works from the home screen app — see above.
- They subscribed on a different device. Push is per device; they subscribe once on each phone or computer they want alerts on.
